Venues - Next Generation

For the Next Generation

These three sites — on the dock alongside the historic Delta King Riverboat, on a grassy Family Stage near the CA State Railroad Museum, and in the Round Table Pizza Parlor — are where tomorrow's jazz musicians develop their talents. The festival annually presents 16 groups (high school age and younger) as a way of fulfilling its mission to preserve classic American jazz and develop a new generation of musicians to play it. All Next Generation sites are FREE!

Family Stage
On the green along Firehouse Alley, between I and J streets in Old Sacramento, this is a place to let the kiddies run around and dance to the music. With activities, kid-friendly food and drink, and bands that are either young or appealing to the young, this is a hugely popular venue. Approx. 400 spaces are on the grass—no chairs, so bring a blanket. Tickets for food and beverages; dancing on the green.

Delta King Dock
Where K Street meets the Sacramento River, the floating Delta King Dock offers the total "river experience" for listening to our amazing youth bands performing here alongside a great riverboat, amidst the atmosphere of the scenic Sacramento River. 150 theater-style seats; cash for food and beverages. Sponsored by Golden 1 Credit Union.

Round Table Pizza
On K Street between Second and Front streets in Old Sacramento, this longtime festival venue does double duty: a youth site during the day and a spot for jam sessions in the evening. We encourage all calibre and age of musicians to join in. 280 table seats; cash for food and beverages; dance at your own peril.
