Special Events of 2010

Thursday Night Kickoff Party plans are set. On May 27, 2010, we'll be celebrating our 37th anniversary at this pre-festival bash with music, food, and dancing. We'll feature two bands you won't be able to see at the festival, so come on out! There's plenty of room to party hardy at Freeway Gardens, catching up with festival friends while enjoying the soulful sounds of the California Honeydrops from San Francisco, CA, followed by the energetic party band Aftershock from Sacramento. The California Honeydrops are universally appealing as they bring swing, jump blues, jazz and New Orleans party music into the 21st century, while Aftershock keeps the party going into the night, taking funk and R&B to a higher level. Party Gras time! Doors open at 5:30pm; music starts at 6:30pm.
(Note: The California Honeydrops will be fresh from their tour of Holland that included being featured at the prestigious Breda Jazz Festival!)

Thursday Night Kickoff Party tickets will be sold in advance for ONLY $10 each, or $12 at the door.

Don't Miss These Special Events!

Jazz music of all types will permeate Old Sacramento and the area around the Sacramento Convention Center. Events include a big Friday parade, specialty concerts, a rousing Sunday gospel service and respectful Memorial Day salute to service. On the youth band stages, there will be over a dozen bands made up of teenage musicians preserving the jazz tradition.
